TERMS OF REFERENCE

- Identify gaps in WH List and Irish Tentative List

- Explore themes such as Round Towers of Ireland, Blanket Bogs, Monastic Settlements of Ireland, Cistercian Abbeys and prospective property types which are uniquely Irish and which are also globally significant for all humankind

- Explore the possibilities for transboundary nominations NI

- Explore potential for serial nominations

- Explore the potential for our current World Heritage Sites particularly Bru na Boinne to be expanded to incorporate other elements

- Identify those properties/sites which meet the UNESCO WHL criteria for inclusion on Ireland’s new Tentative List

- Provide an outline of the OUV for any sites placed on List

- Develop information material for seminars for the local authorities and other Stakeholder Interest Groups.

- Draw up and prioritise those sites/properties or themes to be included on the new Tentative List for submission to the Minister for his agreement.
